And while I am not extremely active in wanting to own up my age (and I am not even reaching 40 yet), I can’t help but agree once again that age does change the way you look at things and respond to challenges.

And yes, older women are generally more generous with praise and while I’m not sure if it’s because of knowing how it feels to be unappreciated – I truly believe that it is really because we learn to be more thankful with life and not take things for granted.

Chanced upon this on Facebook this evening.

And it kind of sums up the Silly Girl’s feelings of life at present. A life that she is somewhat happy with but can’t help but feel that something is missing…

Well, it is up to her to find that peace of mind (and heart) to make it all feel a little better.

Maybe a nap will make this all better…

The world lost an extremely talented artiste today – one who had brought us classics such as ‘At Last’ and ‘I’d rather go blind’.

In the meantime, CH sent across something rather interesting last week. As you know, the lunar new year and year of the dragon is just around the corner, and perhaps many of you would be wondering ‘when is a good and auspicious day for me to start work’. The Silly Girl attended a regional seminar this afternoon and overheard this quote being mentioned by the presenter. To this quote, she feels it’s partially true – as she would like to add that as people grow up, not many may remember what it means to have a simple life.

Such is the beautiful irony of life.

Sheer politicking, tempers and angst set in, as the Silly Girl saw her 2011 moved twards a year of fruitless anticipation and frustrations. She saw a little ray of light in the last half of the year as she moved on to other interests and that was when she realised that there will always be 2 sides of the coin – the good and the bad. And it’s up to us to find that inner peace in believing and knowing that you have done good. Thankfully, reality checks showed that the Silly Girl was right in following her beliefs. 

More importantly, 2011 reminded the Silly Girl of the simplicities of life, the beauty of kinship and genuinity of friendship. She feels blessed for the true friendships that she has. Friends who aren’t there because of the food/drinks that you serve/share or the presents that you buy for each other. But friends whom you laugh and joke half the day over nothing, friends who accept you for who you are, friends who have no qualms to scream the living daylights out of you (just so that I don’t keep waddling in self pity and instead do something to change my life) but more importantly, friends who are ready to catch the Silly Girl when she falls (and yes, this was just tested last week!). The Silly Girl can only hope to be a true friend to you guys, as you have been to me !

My life may not be as glamorous as others, but the Silly Girl is happy and contented. And this is all that matters.

And unlike previous years, the Silly Girl will not be counting down to her birthday as she will be rushing through her project due in January, but more importantly, she is just happy and grateful to be around those who loves her and appreciate her existence – anytime of the year and not just on her birthday .
