“Is it Friday already? Thank God for Fridays!”

This was the silly girl’s first thoughts this morning. It had indeed been a long week!

Has this ever happened to you?

You arrive at a taxi stand and you see a long queue forming at the taxi stand. And not wanting to waste precious time waiting in line, more often or not, you will make a rational decision to walk off to another area, hoping to ‘hijack’ the next available taxi  (that’s assuming if call reservation of the cab is not available)… Sometimes you might hail one down almost immediately while at other times, you end up walking further and  ’wasting’ more time. The best of all?

You might not get your taxi in the end. Or you eventually do get it later, so much so that it might have made more sense waiting at the taxi stand instead of having moved off.

‘Tis the beauty of life and the lessons that it teaches you.

Shellfish – something that the Silly Girl simply loves. And so it comes as no surprise that the following dish is something that she simply loves to cook when she is free at home.

Ingredients:
500g Fresh clams - washed and soaked in water
½ cup Extra virgin olive oil
1/3 cup Parsley
6 to 8 cloves Garlic
½ teaspoon Pepper
½ teaspoon Chilli(flakes or finely chopped)
3 teaspoons Vegetable oil

Method:
1) Crush the garlic to a puree and mix it with chopped parsley, pepper and extra virgin olive oil.
2) Heat up the cooking pan and add in three teaspoons of vegetable oil. Next, add in chilli flakes and fry for 1 minute till it’s fragrant. Add in the clams (washed), cover the pan with lid and cook for three minutes.
3) Add in the garlic mixture and stir well. Cover the pan with lid again and cook for another three to four minutes until the clam shells are open.
4) Before serving, throw away any clams that are still closed (these would have been dead and contaminated before cooking)

*A dash of white wine may be included at the last part of cooking*

The Silly Girl received an email from a friend yesterday. It was something that she had read a few years ago,  and in those few short and simple lines, it m out neatly what a 40-year old woman would be like. Although the silly girl is still far away from the big 4-0, she is however thankful that she is moving into the right direction. Have a good read, folks.

In case you missed it on 60 Minutes, this is what Andy Rooney thinks about women over 40:

As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all.

Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, ‘What are you thinking?’ She doesn’t care what you think.

If a woman over 40 doesn’t want to watch the game, she doesn’t sit around whining about it.  She does something she wants to do and it’s usually more interesting.

Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won’t hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it.

Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it’s like to be unappreciated.

Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sin to a woman over 40. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.

Older women are forthright and honest. They’ll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don’t ever have to wonder where you stand with her

Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it’s not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a balding, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old sweet young thing.

Ladies, I apologize.

For all those men who say, ‘Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?’…Here’s an update for you. Women are realizing that it’s not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”

                                                           – Eleanor Roosevelt

Dreams occurs to those who dare and want to dream. Success comes to those who dare to walk their dreams… The Silly Girl has her defined set of dreams and she is trying very hard to make sure that it comes true.

Courage and optimism are not her strongest virtues at this point in time.
